A Vieques wedding often becomes several days of beach afternoons, shared dinners, and time together before the ceremony even begins. It suits couples who want the island to be part of their celebration, whether they’re exchanging vows with two witnesses or gathering family and friends at a private villa.

The beaches offer different ways to celebrate, from Sun Bay’s broad shoreline to a ceremony beside an oceanfront property. Choosing a location means considering access, permits, shade, and the fact that public beaches remain open to everyone.

Mosquito Bay gives guests an experience beyond the wedding itself: a nighttime kayak trip through bioluminescent water. Set aside a separate evening for it so the excursion fits comfortably into the weekend.

The island’s small scale shapes the experience, too. Guests stay in vacation rentals and small hotels, meet at local restaurants, and often cross paths throughout their visit. Free-roaming horses are part of that everyday setting: you’ll see them grazing in fields and wandering beside roads as you explore.

Getting here takes an extra travel step, either by small plane or ferry from Ceiba. With the right planning, this can often be the easiest, most stress-free part of the travel day. Clear directions, realistic connection times, and transportation arranged ahead help guests feel taken care of. We recommend arriving at least a day before the wedding; two days gives everyone more breathing room.
Lodging includes private homes, guesthouses, and boutique hotels, so larger groups often stay across several properties. A villa’s overnight capacity is also different from its event capacity: confirm both before booking.
For weddings with guests, we recommend starting 12–18 months ahead, particularly if you want a specific venue or several nearby accommodations. Elopements can often come together sooner, depending on availability. Secure your planner, venue, and lodging early, then work through vendors, transportation, and a rain plan.
