Pack lightly, wear secure shoes, and take time to find a comfortable place to sit or enter the water.
What to Expect
Sand mixes with rocks and glass along the beach. The shoreline offers plenty to examine, but it deserves a careful look before walking barefoot.
The setting is undeveloped, with nearby utility infrastructure giving the beach its distinctive name.
You can enjoy a short visit at the entrance or explore toward Bastimiento when conditions permit.
Swimming & Visiting with Children
Choose a sandy entry and check the bottom for glass and rocks. North-coast wind and swell can change swimming conditions.
Children should be supervised closely, both along the shore and in the water. Don’t assume neighboring sheltered pockets mean the entire stretch is calm.
Snorkeling at Playa Voltio
Snorkeling is possible in suitable conditions. Assess visibility and identify a manageable exit before entering.
Go with a companion and avoid standing on coral or disturbing marine life.
Shade & Facilities
Vegetation provides some shade, but its availability varies. Bring sun protection and don’t depend on bathrooms, vendors, showers, or rentals.
Cell Service
Save the beach pin and arrange meetings in advance. Tell others you’re using the Voltio entrance rather than the Bastimiento access.
Getting to Playa Voltio
From Isabel Segunda, take Route 200 east past the Humane Society area and Ababor Suites.
Local directions place the access where the road bends away from the coast, near fenced electrical equipment. Use a saved pin and current signs rather than entering utility property.
Parking & Beach Access
Use existing dirt parking without blocking access or approaching fenced equipment.
Check soft ground before pulling in. Keep your vehicle off the sand and leave room for others to turn.
Playa Voltio & Bastimiento
Bastimiento lies west along the shore—left when facing the water from Voltio.
Walk between the two only when waves and shoreline conditions leave a comfortable route. Return before changing conditions make passage difficult.

When to Visit
Calm weather offers the best prospects for water activities. Choose daylight for inspecting access and spotting glass underfoot.
Keep your plans flexible if the north coast is rough.
Trash & Caring for the Beach
Take all rubbish out and leave natural objects in place. Handle sharp litter only with appropriate protection and a secure container.
Visiting Responsibly
Stay away from utility infrastructure, respect fences, and use established routes. Keep music considerate and share the access area.
