Bring a chair and something to drink. Let the water conditions decide whether your visit includes a swim or simply time watching the sea.

What to Expect

La Chata feels connected to the neighborhood around it. Houses and local roads are nearby, but the shoreline offers space to pause and enjoy the view.

Sand, rocks, and reef create a varied coast. Choose your resting spot after looking at the waves and how much dry beach is available.

You may see surfers when conditions suit them. Their presence is a reason to assess the water carefully, rather than evidence that it’s suitable for casual swimming.

Swimming & Visiting with Children

Plan a family visit around playing on the sand and exploring with an adult. Swimming depends on the conditions and a suitable entry.

Keep children away from breaking waves and rocky reef. Don’t enter where surf could push you onto the bottom or make returning to shore difficult.

Snorkeling at La Chata

Snorkeling may be possible in calm conditions, but this isn’t a dependable beginner location. Reef, waves, and changing visibility require good judgment.

Go with a companion, identify your exit before entering, and choose another beach if the water is unsettled.

Shade & Facilities

Trees provide natural shade along parts of the shore. Choose a spot clear of damaged branches and leave vegetation undisturbed.

Bring water and supplies. Don’t count on bathrooms, showers, vendors, or equipment rentals.

Cell Service

Save your directions and beach pin. If you’re meeting friends, share the actual entrance rather than a nearby house or accommodation.

Arrange return transportation before being dropped off.

Getting to La Chata

From Isabel Segunda, head east through the Bravos de Boston neighborhood, following a saved La Chata map pin.

The final turn can be easy to miss among residential entrances. Drive slowly, follow the established public approach, and avoid using private driveways to turn around.

Parking & Beach Access

Use existing parking near the entrance without blocking homes, gates, or the access path.

Check the ground before pulling onto sand or soft edges. Keep vehicles off the beach.

Surfing & the Reef

La Chata attracts experienced surfers when waves are suitable. The reef makes local knowledge important, and this isn’t a place to learn by following someone else into the water.

Beach visitors should stay clear of surfers’ entry and exit areas and avoid swimming through an active break.

What to Bring

  • Drinking water and snacks
  • A towel or beach chair
  • Sun protection
  • Secure footwear
  • A bag for your rubbish

When to Visit

Choose calm conditions for any water activity. For a shoreline visit, arrive with enough daylight to assess the access and enjoy the coast comfortably.

Be flexible if waves leave little room on the beach.

Trash & Caring for the Beach

Take all rubbish with you and leave shells, plants, and marine life where you find them.

Avoid standing on reef or damaging the trees that provide shade.

Visiting Responsibly

Keep music considerate and respect the surrounding neighborhood. Leave entrances clear and give residents and other visitors space.

Water and surf

North-coast swell can bring breaking waves over rocky reef. Swim or snorkel only when the entry, visibility, and return route are manageable. Calm-looking patches don’t establish that the whole area is suitable.

After rain

Residential roads may collect puddles, and the final sandy access can soften. Runoff and unsettled weather may reduce visibility. Avoid discolored water and check your footing near the entrance.
